President

Thomas Kranig was born 1954 in Munich. He is married and father of three children. He studied law at the Universities of Munich and Wuerzburg. In 1984, he started his career at the Traffic Motorway Directorate of Southern Baveria in Munich. Therefore, he started working for the State of Bavaria as an administrative lawyer. From 1985 till 1992 he was working at the Administrative District Office of Aschaffenburg. At first, he was head of the department on Public Safety and Security. Afterwards, he was leading the department on Administrative Construction Law. Starting in 1992 untill 1995 he was the executive secretary of a private media company. From 1995 untill 1997 he was head of the department with regard to Infrastructure Planning and Developing.

In 1997 he was appointed as a judge with the Administrative Court in Ansbach. For seven years, he was the press spokesmen and he stayed with the court untill 2010. During this time periode, he obtained a master's degree with regard to Mediation at the University of Hagen. Upon completion, he was also working as a court mediator at the Administrative Court in Ansbach.

In 2011, Thomas Kranig was appointed as the President of the Bavarian State Authority on Data Protection for the Private Sector.
